Tim Hanson, head coach of the North Wright County Riverhawks girls hockey team, announced last week that he was resigning his coaching position.

Hanson became co-head coach of the Monticello girls hockey program back when they were part of the Blades co-op in 2002-03. He remained the head coach when they transitioned to the Riverhawks co-op with St. Michael and Annandale in the mid 2000’s and has found success almost every step of the way.

Hanson has made state tournament trips with both the Blades and the Hawks, and this last year was the Hawks’ fourth conference championship in the past five seasons.

But for Hanson, the time was right to walk away.

Time for a change
