Obituary: Jerry L. Putnam, 72, Dassel

Jerry Lee Putnam, 72, Dassel, and formerly of Big Lake, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Hutchinson Area Health Care of Hutchinson. There was a celebration of Jerry’s life on Tuesday, July 17, 4-8 p.m., at McPete’s, 590 Humboldt Drive East, Big Lake.

Jerry Lee was born Sept. 4, 1939, in Monticello, to Lester and Gladys Putnam. He served in the U.S. Army. Jerry lived in Big Lake most of his life and retired from Hoffman Engineering. He had made his home in Dassel for the past six years. Jerry loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed sports, and loved being with his grandchildren. He was a talented wood carver and enjoyed this hobby in his retirement.

Jerry is survived by his three children, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Putnam of Dassel; Robert Lee Putnam of Big Lake; LeeAnn (Joseph) Chounard of Monticello; five grandchildren; sister Kay Swanson of Cambridge; and his former wife Penny Putnam. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Putnam; and three sisters, Mertis Guppy, Beverly Kasper and Donna Fredrickson.

Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.

    Kay, Jerry’s family, I’m sending my prayers to all of you, in the loss of your brother / dad. I grew up with then in Big Lake, & we shared some fun times together. May Jerry now RIP, & may God bless you all.
