Amber Eckstein is used to representing Monticello at big meets, such as the state tournament. But early in August, the 14-year-old found herself representing the state at a regional tournament. Her performance likely made both Monticello and Minnesota proud. Eckstein took first place in the 13-14 girls 200 meter breaststroke at the 2012 Central Zone Age Group Swimming Championships in Pleasant Prarie, Wis. She took a whopping seven seconds off of her previous best time from just a week earlier, when she placed fourth at the state meet. Eckstein also finished seventh in the 100-meter breaststroke in Wisconsin.
