The Magic girls tennis team has been the busiest of all fall sports teams thus far. With five matches under their belt, the Magic sit at 2-3 thus far.
Monticello opened the season with a four-team invite at home, where they knocked off Rocori 7-0 and fell 5-2 to a quality Rosemount team.
Friday the Magic headed to Alexandria where they took on East Grand Forks, Alexandria, and Annandale. Overall, Coach Jeff Bordwell walked away impressed with the way his team played despite hot and humid conditions.
The Magic were swept by a tough Annandale squad and lost a nail-biter to Annadale (4-3) but pulled out a 5-2 win against EGF.
Throughout the day and early part of the season the Magic were led by three singles player Grace Sawatzke who picked up three wins on Friday to move to 5-0 on the year.
At one doubles Anne Dockendorf and Kendra Stoick picked up two wins Friday, while Christine Lui and Maria Becker matched that feat at three doubles.
The Magic got off to a quick start this season with a 106-75 win over Foley at the Monticello Middle School pool Tuesday night.
Monticello showed off both their top end talent and their depth by winning 9 out of 12 events, including a couple of sweeps at the top.
Amber Eckstein (two individual wins), Anna Jensen, Kylie Gaeth, Paige Anderson, Breazy Ciatti, and Samantha Murray all won individual events.
Monticello is back in action Thursday as they host Breck at 6 p.m.
