Monticello Times has new managing editor
The Monticello Times has named Tim Hennagir as its new managing editor effective Sept. 6, 2012.
Hennagir brings a wealth of experience, having spent the last six years as the editor of the Blaine Spring Park Life. Most recently he played a key role on the editorial side in transitioning the newspaper from a subscription-based format of 1,000 subscribers to a free-distribution newspaper reaching more than 16,000 homes.
“It’s been a rewarding six years working in Coon Rapids,” Hennagir said. “And, I consider it an honor to have served the company’s readers in Blaine and Spring Lake Park. I’m going to miss my colleagues in the ABC Newspapers newsroom. As a team, we were able to accomplish a great deal.”
Prior to his work with ECM Publishers, Inc. he spent four years as an editor with American Community Newspapers with then Robbinsdale-based Sun-Post group.
He has held a variety of positions within the newspaper industry since graduating from St. Cloud State University (SCSU) in 1989, and he is also an adjunct journalism professor at SCSU.
Hennagir said he’s excited about the opportunity at the Times and Great River Weekend. “The Monticello community has a unique and historic relationship with its newspaper,” Hennagir said. “I’m looking forward to this new communications challenge.”
