The Magic pulled out a narrow one-point victory at the Rocori Invite last Thursday, just edging out section rival Willmar. Colin Lyndorff, Oliver Winsor and Derek Secord finished second, fourth and fifth for Monti.
Andrew LaVallee finished 16th, while Lawrence Krause finished 17th, passing a Willmar runner down the stretch to boost the Magic to victory.
Monticello picked up two wins in a three game week, beating Cambridge 2-1 and Big Lake 5-0, while losing to Totino Grace 2-1.
The Magic were led past Big Lake by the outstanding play of their two forwards. Lealah Abraham, who is used on both sides of the pitch to help utilize her speed, earned a hat trick, scoring three of the Monticello goals. The other two were punched in by senior Cody Romer, who also assisted on all three of Abraham’s goals.
