Ruth Ann Harstad, 91, Monticello, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at the New River Extended Care of Monticello, Minn.
Funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m., at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 413 East 3rd Street, Monticello, with Pastor Darren Green officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday. Private interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery of Minneapolis, Minn.
Ruth was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Appleton, Minn., to Fred and Elsie (Loose) Nitz.
She will be deeply missed by her loving and caring family; daughters, Judy D. Stokes and Bev (Bob) Weiman, all of Monticello; sister Bernice (Edwin) Novotny; and five granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 52 years, Lester “Butch”; her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Reuben and Virginia Nitz; and her sister and brother-in-law, Heidi and Edward Fahlstrom.
