New River Medical Center announces new OB-GYN partnership
A leading Twin Cities women’s healthcare provider and New River Medical Center have announced a gynecological services and specialized care partnership.
Starting Oct. 26, Monticello area women will have access to gynecological services provided by Clinic Sofia doctors, who will see patients Friday afternoons.
Surgical procedures will be performed at New River Medical Center. Clinic Sofia is a OB-GYN clinic located in Edina and Maple Grove that provides full-circle healthcare for women. The clinic’s name is inspired by the Greek goddess Sophia, who is a symbol of women’s wisdom, life stages, fertility and nurturing.
“New River Medical Center is proud to partner with Clinic Sofia to offer women in the community convenient access to choice in their health care decisions, said Dr. Mark Dietz, chief medical officer at New River Medical Center. “Clinic Sofia’s providers not only have great expertise in their field of specialized care, but they also identify and understand their patients, delivering care that is unique to each woman,” Dietz said in a news release.
“Their reputation in the Twin Cities as providers with a modern approach to OB-GYN services is a great fit for the growing needs of our community.” Clinic Sofia features an all-female staff.
Dr. Sujatha Roberts is currently a practicing OB-GYN with Clinic Sofia. During a recent phone interview, Roberts talked about serving patients in Monticello.
“We’ve been open in Maple Grove about five months now,” she said. “The clinic has been well-accepted by the local community. We were approached in July and early August by New River Medical Center administration to provide services in the area. We want to provide the same sort of exceptional care locally.”
Roberts was born and raised in India. “That’s where I did my basic medical schooling and my residency in OB-GYN,” she said. “I have close to 10 years of practice in my country, where I did a lot of rural service.”
Roberts moved to the United States and attended Loyola University in Chicago, graduating in 2007,
“After that, joined Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton. I live in Zimmerman,”
Roberts said. “I was there for about four years, before the switch to Clinic Sofia. I look forward to becoming part of the Monticello communit. Our aim is to provide the best possible care for women there. I hope they will welcome us.”
