Amendments very tight

Just after midnight, the two proposed constitutional amendments, marriage and voter ID, were very close.

“No” votes led with 50 percent to 48 percent on both amendments.

In other election news, former Congressman Rick Nolan was leading incumbent Eighth District Rep. Chip Cravaack by a 52 to 48 percent margin.

In U.S. House District Six, incumbent Republican Michele Bachman and challenger Jim Graves were tied at 50 percent of the vote.

Early indications showed the state Senate going back to Democratic control and the House also leaning to Democratic control.
