Ardis Janet Kiernan, 84, Monticello, and formerly of Buffalo, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, 11 a.m., at The Church of St. Francis in Buffalo. A time of gathering will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the church beginning at 10 a.m. A lunch will be held immediately following the Mass.
Ardis was born Jan. 13, 1928 in Waconia, the daughter of Valentine and Alice (Johnson) Hartmann.
On Sept. 2, 1950, Ardis J. Hartmann and Daniel P. Kiernan were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waconia.
She was formerly employed as a teacher in Maple Lake.
Ardis also was a longtime, faithful member of The Church of St. Francis in Buffalo.
Through the years, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, reading, playing scrabble and was a great cook. She volunteered at the Buffalo Food Shelf, Buffalo Hospital and spent many hours sewing bedrolls for the homeless.
Ardis is survived by her husband; children, John (Avie) Kiernan, Chester, Va.; Mary Kiernan, St. Paul; Maggie Kiernan, Big Lake; Pat Kiernan (Stan James), Chanhassen; Bridget (Steve) Weis, South Haven; T.D. (John) Gibbs, Bloomington; and Tom (Julie) Kiernan, Buffalo; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys Siegle and Joan Siegle.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Alvin and Carl Hartmann.
