BREAKING NEWS: The New River Medical Center Board of Directors selected CentraCare Health System as its affiliation partner Monday night after listening to a 45-minute task force presentation. The hospital district board voted to approve the task force’s recommendation, which received additional non-profit board support. Rob VanDenBerg, representing Otsego, cast the single dissenting vote. Linda Doerr recused herself from the final board vote, citing a conflict of interest. Doerr is currently employed by CentraCare as its vice president for senior services at the St. Cloud Hospital and is CEO of St. Benedict’s Senior Community. The affiliation task force, a group established by New River Medical Center’s non-profit board, led the affiliation process and made the recommendation to select the CentraCare Health System. If CentraCare Health System’s Board of Directors approves the affiliation partnership, documentation regarding the process and partnership will be drafted and signed and a due diligence process will begin. Depending on the timing and structure of that process, an interim management agreement may be discussed. See this Thursday’s Monticello Times for a full story about Monday night’s board decision.
