Robert Murray, 83, Washington State

Robert E. Murray, 83, Bainbridge Island, Wash., died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012.
A memorial service was  held at Lewis Funeral Chapel Tuesday, Nov. 27,  3 p.m. Inurnment was at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo, Wash.
Robert was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Dow, Okla. He graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview, Wash. and went on to graduate from Columbia Junior College and later attended the University of Washington, specializing in mechanical engineering.
On Sept. 17, 1949, Robert married Vernice J. “Jo” Mitchell in Kelso, Wash. He was a pilot and Director of Flight Training with Alaska Airlines. He also was owner and operator of Air Caribe Intl. based in Dominica, West Indies and was a volunteer pilot for Wings of Mercy out of St. Cloud, Minn.
Robert was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, a city councilman in Monticello, Minn. during the 1990s, and a member of the Monticello Rotary. He was also an avid painter and a compassionate man who loved his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Steve, Winnemucca, Nev.;  Rick,  Chanhassen, Minn.; and Dan, Kansas City, Mo.; daughter Sandi Mitchell, Kingston, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his son Walter Robert and brother Bud Murray.
