Stella Helen Schneider, 88, Monticello, died  Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at the New River Medical Center of Monticello.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 20, 5-8 p.m., at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 1001 East 7th Street, Monticello. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with Fr. Tony VanderLoop officiating. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Stella was born Aug. 28, 1924, to Louis and Rose (Dalbec) Donais. She married Thomas Schneider in 1947, and served her country in WWII as a sergeant in the WACS. She lived in Monticello and raised seven children, and owned and operated Stella’s Café for 30 years. Stella’s Café was a gathering place for all locals, teenagers, farmers, merchants and families. Stella was known for her wonderful cooking talents. Many enjoyed her caramel rolls, hot beef sandwiches and homemade pies. She took great pride in serving homemade soups, gravies, and real mashed potatoes.
Stella is survived by her children, Sue (Gary) Corrow, Tom, Jr., Rose Mary (Brian) Hayes, Sheila (Russell) Hoffman, Dave (Laurie), Bob (Barb), Doug (Karen);  29 grandchildren;  49 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild;  four sisters, Millie, Mabel, Marge and Mary Ann “Bobbi”.
She was preceded in death by her husband;  grandson Christopher Schneider;  and 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
