David A. Kinney, 46, Monticello

David Andrew Kinney, 46, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.
Memorial services will be held at a future date.
David was born May 7, 1966, in Evanston, Ill., and grew up in the Chicago area. He spent nearly 20 years in the San Francisco Bay area in California. He and his children moved to Big Lake in Sept. 2004 to be near his mother. They moved to Monticello in 2010. Despite dealing with major health issues most of his life, he was a happy, active, athletic kid and young adult. He was a loving and responsible parent, doing everything in his power to help and support his children. David dealt bravely and stoically with chronic kidney disease, leukemia and many other painful and debilitating conditions. He was a passionate sports fan (Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Black Hawks) and a politics junky. Until his health prevented it, he was a certified welding inspector and a member of the American Welding Society. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is finally free from pain and at peace. He is now and always will be, dearly loved and missed.
David is survived by his loving children, Megan Pamela Sue Kinney and Nolan Andrew Kinney; mother and stepfather, Judith and Raymond Nickel, Big Lake, Minn.; father and stepmother, Layton F. and Susan Kinney, Chicago, Ill.; sister Margaret (Paul) Georgelos, Naperville, Ill.; and stepsister Jill (John) Greenidge, Plainfield, Ill.
Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
