Joanne Link, 85, Monticello
Joanne Link, 85 of Monticello, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at the New River Medical Center Extended Care. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 4, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 1001 E. Seventh St., Monticello. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m. also at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Henry’s Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Joanne was born in Monticello on Dec. 24, 1927, to Lando and Nora (Dynan) Kirscht. She grew up in the Monticello area, graduating from Monticello High School in 1945 and from what was then St. Cloud Teachers’ College in 1949. She taught at Coon Rapids Elementary. She married Kenneth Link in August 1950 and they lived in the Monticello area. She did substitute teaching in the Monticello schools and also taught in the School of Religion at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. She was an active volunteer at the church, as well as for the Red Cross Blood Bank for many years. Her hobbies were quilt-making, painting and reading. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Monticello-Big Lake Hospital Auxiliary and C.C.W. at St. Henry’s.
She is survived by sons Gary (Lorrie) of Maple Grove, Gregg (Pat) of Farmer’s Branch, Texas; daughters Julie (Duane) Smallwood of Big Lake, Nancy (Tim) Juntunen of St. Michael; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers and a sister. Memorials to family or Minnesota Multiple Sclerosis Society.
