John Halverson

John M. Halverson, 86, Nisswa, Minn., died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society of Brainerd.
Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 5-8 p.m., at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 5064 County Road 13, Nisswa. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 9, 11 a.m., at the church. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery of Little Falls.
John was born July 5, 1926, in Hallock, Minn., to Adolph and Ellen (Mortenson) Halverson. John served in the merchant marines and the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at Land O’ Lakes as a district manager for over 34 years, and he and his family lived in various Minnesota communities. In his retirement, he worked for Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel in Monticello for several years. John and his wife Yvonne had made their home in Nisswa since 2000.
John is survived by his wife;  children, Lynne Halverson, Ely; Joan (Dick) Rosenberg, Henning; Jim (Linda) Halverson, Lake Shore; one granddaughter; Northfield;  and sister Marilyn Wilson, Fort Collins, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Merle, Dale, Bob, Harvey;  and grandson Gabriel.
Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
