Monticello Memorial Day Parade, Ceremonies Schedule

The Memorial Day wreath laying ceremonies and parade are planned jointly by the Monticello American Legion Post 260 and the Monticello VFW.
Wreath laying and gun salutes will be held at the Catholic Cemetery at 9 a.m., Hillside Cemetery at 9:20 a.m. and Ellison Park at 9:40 a.m.
The parade will start at 10 a.m. from the Pinewood Elementary parking lot and will include American Legion and VFW color guard members, a contingent from the Monticello National Guard, Patriot Guards, the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Corp, National Guard humvees, and more.
This year’s Grand Marshalls are Larry Kanthak and the Monticello Legion’s 2012 Legion Boys and Girls State representatives, Riley Wren and Danielle Grunzwieg.
The parade route will follow West Third Street. to Maple Street. to West Fouth Street to Elm Street/County Road. 39, past the Legion and back to Pinewood. Ceremonies at Riverside Cemetery will begin at 11 a.m. following the parade and will include speaker
Bill Johnson, American Legion’s 10th District Adjutant, wreath laying services and gun salute.  Parade participants will be invited to lunch at the Monticello American Legion served by the Legion Auxiliary.
Admission to the auxillary lunch will be by invitation ticket only.
