Violet L. Pittman, 87, Big Lake, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Visitation was Wednesday, May 29, 4-8 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at  Church of Mary of the Visitation, 440 Lake Street North, Big Lake. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 30, at the church, with Fr. Gene Doyle officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m., at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sauk Rapids.  Violet was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Stanchfield, Minn., to Mirrell and Lydia (McGovern) DeBill. She and her husband Clyde lived in various Minnesota communities before settling in Big Lake in the early 1960s. She was a longtime and faithful member of the Church of Mary of the Visitation, (formerly Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church) of Big Lake. She played steel guitar and enjoyed art. Spending time with her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy.
Violet is survived by her sons, Francis Pittman, Big Lake; Ricky (Bonnie) Pittman, Becker;  daughters, Carol (Gerry) Swanson, McIntosh, Minn.; Barb (Steve) Glammeier, Big Lake;  nine grandchildren;  22 great-grandchildren;  and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband;  sons, Russell and Lawrence;  three sisters;  and three brothers.
Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
