CentraCare Health-Monticello helipad remains closed

Want to know why a medical helicopter recently landed on the Monticello Middle School parking lot instead of touching down across the street?
Here’s the answer: The CentraCare Health-Monticello helipad remains closed to takeoffs and landings while hospital officials and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Office of Aviation and Aeronautics continue to work on a plan to find a new landing area somewhere on the local health care campus.
The helicopter in question was a North Memorial Air Care Agusta 109, which was dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. June 13 on a patient transfer in Monticello.
