City leaders’ review of a recently updated section of Monticello’s comprehensive plan shows how the community’s demographics have dramatically changed.
Community Development Director Angela Schumann summarized three chapter amendments to the 2008 plan during her June 24 city council presentation.
The Monticello comprehensive plan is the city’s guiding document for land use policy, Schumann said. The plan is a statutorily required planning document that provides underpinning for all land-use decisions. The plan includes goals and strategies related to overall land use, transportation, economic development and parks. Like many surrounding communities, Monticello experienced rapid growth over the last decade, growing 64 percent from 2000 to 2010.
