Monticello nuclear plant safety during past year gets NRC review

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission held an open house Tuesday to discuss the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant’s overall 2012 safety performance.
During the open house from to 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Monticello Community Center, attendees had an opportunity to hold one-on-one discussions with NRC staff members about the plant’s performance and the agency’s oversight of the facility. NRC staff included the inspectors assigned to the plant on a full-time basis and staff from the NRC Region III Office in Lisle, Ill. Overall, the plant operated safely during 2012.
