When it comes to service, Franklin Denn of Monticello Township has given of himself generously over his 92 years. Denn dedicated many years of his life to serve in the U.S. Army and his military career included serving as a company commander in the South Pacific during World War II. Denn’s service-centered life may have started with the military, but it didn’t end there. He spent over 40 years in local government, as a planning commission member for Wright County for 40 years, a member of the board of adjustment and a Monticello Township supervisor for 42 years, often serving as the township chairman. Denn also helped to establish the Army Reserve station in Buffalo, of which he was a charter member. For all the good he has brought to the local area, the county and township formally recognized him during a county board meeting June 18.
