In 1990 Resurrection Lutheran Church’s founding pastor, Bob Rusert, was traveling down Interstate 94 when he felt compelled to stop in the small town of Monticello.
“He stopped just off the interstate at the base of a sloped farmer’s field on the edge of town,” stated a church website posting.
“He felt a strong sense of the Spirit prompting him to believe this is where the church he was called to start should be built. As he gazed at the hillside in front of him, the verse from Matthew 5 came to him, “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.””
And so it became. Pastor Bob officially founded the church 20 years ago this month by knocking on doors and inviting community members to worship with him, and the church will be celebrating the anniversary of its founding with services Sunday, July 28 at the 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services.
Rusert, will return from his new work as a pastor in Minnetonka to give a special message at both morning services.
