The city of Monticello is interested in participating in an update of Wright County’s multi-jurisdictional all-hazard mitigation plan for natural disaster response.
City leaders approved a statement of interest associated with a plan update as a consent agenda item at their July 22 meeting. Ron Hackenmueller, the city’s chief building, zoning and civil defense official, provided additional information about the request in a background memo to council.
There is no cost associated with the city’s participation in the update, because cost would be covered through a grant to Wright County.
According to Hackenmueller, in the event of a disaster, the city would be would be eligible for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mitigation funding by participating in this upgrading process.
