In its inaugural year, the Monticello Lions Brewfest generated considerable community service funds, including $10,000 donated to the Monticello Food Shelf.
The Brewfest committee is busily wrapping up final details associated with its 2013 event, scheduled for Aug. 17 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in West Bridge Park.
According to Chad Vokaty, event chairman, the goal of the second annual Brewfest basically remain the same one found within in a previous event mission statement.
That statement reads: “To promote a signature craft beer tasting event for the purpose of raising revenue, in order to continue and expand the community service tradition of the Monticello Lions by using the funds raised for humanitarian purposes.” The statement also matches the organization’s overall motto, which is “We Serve.”
The rain or shine event returns 100 percent of its proceeds to local charities. “As a club our main goal is serving the community of Monticello,” Vokaty said.
