Robert Louis Marsolek, 84, Monticello passed away Saturday Aug. 10, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center of St. Cloud. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 16, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 E. Broadway, Monticello.
There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.with Deacon Steve Dupay officiating. Interment will be at St. Henry Catholic Cemetery Saturday Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Tony VanderLoop officiating. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Robert was born on Sept. 3, 1928, in Waverly, Minn. to Louis and Lucy Marsolek. He grew up in the Waverly area. While he served in the U.S. Army, he made his home in Virginia for a couple of years. He then returned to Monticello where he lived the rest of his life, until entering the Veterans Administration Medical Center 13 years ago. Robert worked as an over the road truck driver most of his life.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kathy (Rick) Kuyava of Monticello, Karen (Bob) Schumacher of Oak Park; eight grandchildren Jeremy Marquette, Tara Marquette, Derek Marquette, Katie Kuyava, Nickolas Schumacher, Eathon Schumacher, Austin Schumacher, Collin Schumacher; and four great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lucy; wife Marian; son Tom; grandsons Dustin Marquette and Jonathon Schumacher and sister Rita Fotia.
