Monticello council, parks and planning commission members conducted a special site visit Monday night and a tour of city-owned property on Monte Club Hill.
The city representatives also enjoyed a picnic box meal atop the scenic hill. The purpose of the visit, according to City Administrator Jeff O’Neill, was to gather observations that could be used in future planning associated with “The Little Mountain,” the city’s historical namesake.
In March, Monticello City Council members weren’t sold on an apartment developer’s initial proposal for a multi-family apartment complex on Monte Club Hill, the city’s geographic landmark.
Parks Superintendent Tom Pawelk joined O’Neill in leading the site visit, which included a utility easement and cross-topography hike through wooded terrain.
