Gary Irving Hoglund, 67, Monticello died unexpectedly on Tuesday. Aug. 13, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital of St. Cloud.
Visitation was Friday, Aug. 16, 1-2 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, 12449 Clementa Avenue NW, Monticello. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. Rev. James Tetlie officiated. Private interment was at Hasty Highland Cemetery.
Gary was born in Monticello on Sept. 13, 1945, to Vernon and Bernice (Dahlgren) Hoglund. He grew up in the Monticello area, graduating from Monticello High School in 1962. On March 30, 1976 he married Vickie Sonsteby.
Gary lived and dairy farmed in Hasty all of his life. He was a longtime and very active member of Faith Lutheran Church. He volunteered at the nursing home in Monticello.
Gary was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one. He enjoyed fishing, buying and selling cattle. He treasured spending time with his grandchildren
Gary will be greatly missed by his wife; daughter Deanna (Mark) Hanson, Becker; son Shaun (Bernadette) Keaser, Broomfield, Colo.; mother Bernice Hoglund, Monticello; brothers, Ron (Katie) Hoglund, Big Lake; Dean (Bonnie) Hoglund, Annandale; and sister Connie (Jerry) James, Remer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
