New Monticello Community Education director has ties to area

After 40-plus years under the leadership of Duane Gates and Candy Benoit, new community education director Jeremiah Mack has jumped into Monticello’s community ed’s head role with both feet.

Mack began working for the district officially on July 1 and he, along with his team, are busy preparing to print the first Community Education journal created under his leadership.

Mack’s interest in this field was initially piqued back in college.
He spent a summer working at the YMCA, where a lifeguarding job evolved into program management for a school-age childcare program in downtown Minneapolis.

Mack comes to Monticello Community Ed after 11 years of experience in neighboring Big Lake’s program. “It was a progression,” he said of his choice to work in community education.
