Robert Louis Marsolek, 84, Monticello, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center of St. Cloud.
Visitation was Friday, Aug. 16, 4-8 p.m., at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 East Broadway, Monticello. There was a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Deacon Steve Dupay officiated.
Interment was at St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m. Fr. Tony VanderLoop officiated.
Robert was born Sept. 3, 1928 in Waverly, Minn. to Louis and Lucy Marsolek. He grew up in the Waverly area.
While he served in the U.S. Army, he made his home in Virginia for a couple of years.
He then returned to Monticello where he lived the rest of his life, until entering the Veterans Administration Medical Center 13 years ago. Robert worked as an over-the-road truck driver most of his life.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kathy (Rick) Kuyava, Monticello; Karen (Bob) Schumacher, Oak Park; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marian; son Tom; grandsons Dustin Marquette and Jonathon Schumacher; and sister Rita Fotia.
