Ronald Lawrence Aurentz, 70, Monticello passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis. Visitation will be Monday October 14, 2013 from 930 AM to 1030 AM at St. Henry Catholic Church, 1001 East 7th Street, Monticello. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1030 AM with The Rev. Tony VanderLoop officiating. Interment will be at St. Henry Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Ron was born on February 6, 1943 in Delano, MN to John “Kelly” and Esther (Morin) Aurentz. He lived much of his life in the Big Lake area. He was a generous and charming man who enjoyed the outdoors. He worked as a truck driver for Nabisco. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and watching Science Fiction and History genres. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, and had an immense love of hunting and especially fishing.
Ron is survived by his best friend and wife Janis (Hoglund) Aurentz; his son whom he loved and was very proud of, John Aurentz; brother Gerald Aurentz; sister Patty Anderson; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John “Kelly” and Esther Aurentz; brother Bob Aurentz; sister Tootie Aurentz; and his mother-in-law Betty Hoglund.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made in Ron’s name to Masonic Cancer Center of the University of Minnesota, McNamara Alumni Center, Suite 500, 200 Oak Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455.
