Matthew P. Ritze, 39, Maple Grove

Matthew Phillip Ritze, 39, Maple Grove, and formerly of Monticello, passed away on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013.
Mass of Christian Burial was Friday Oct. 18, 11 a.m., at The Church of St. Luke, 17545 Huber Avenue NW, Clearwater, Minn. Visitation was Friday, 10-11 a.m., at the church.
Matt is survived by his fiance Sarah Farmer;  parents, Phil and Barb Ritze;  grandmother Mary Ritze;  grandfather Clarence Olson;  cousins, Kenneth and Craig Redepenning;  aunts and uncles , Judy and Don Knutson, Bob and Susie Olson, Bob and Rose Harmsen, Jim and Yvette Olson, Rick and Bonnie Olson, Dennis Redepenning;  father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Susan Farmer;  and their family, Erika and Ryan Greene, Mike Farmer, Jessie Farmer, Chris Farmer;  cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Charlie Ritze;  grandmother Grace Olson;  and aunt Bev Redepenning.
Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.

Harlan E. Wilts, 74, Big Lake

Harlan Eugene Wilts, 74, Big Lake, passed away at CentraCare-Health of Monticello on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 25, 4-8 p.m., at Church of Mary of the Visitation, 440 Lake Street North, Big Lake. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m., at Church of Mary of the Visitation with Fr. Gene Doyle officiating. Interment will be at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Cemetery of Big Lake.
Harlan was born Nov. 18, 1938, in Murdock, Minn., to William and Evelyn (Vadnais) Wilts. In 1952, he moved to Big Lake and graduated from Big Lake High School in 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Muriel Walters, in 1959. Harlan worked as a machinist in Minneapolis for 46 years, and farmed in Big Lake at the same time. In his retirement, Harlan loved to spend time at the Lake Café in Big Lake with his adopted daughters, the waitresses and staff.
He is survived by his three sons, Robert (Judy), Big Lake; Tom (Sue King), Sturgis, S.D.; Bill, Hopkins;  five grandchildren; sisters, Joann (Gary) Kramber and Karen (Hugh) Hudson.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Blanca Mendoza

Blanca L. Mendoza, 62, Monticello

Blanca Lidia Mendoza, 62, Monticello, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral service for Blanca Mendoza was held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 12 p.m., at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery in Monticello. A visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 22, 4-10 p.m., at the Chapel in Buffalo.
Blanca was born Oct. 10, 1951, in Lima Cortes, Honduras, the daughter of Santos Mendoza and Angela Sarmiento. Blanca was formerly employed in agriculture.
She is survived by her husband: Plinio Claros Leiva; children, Lourdes Rivera Mendoza, Monticello; Rafael Rivera  Mendoza, Otsego; Erika Gomez Mendoza, Monticello; Wilmer Gomez Mendoza, New Brighton; Manuel Prudencio Mendoza, Monticello; Arnol Prudencio Mendoza, Honduras; Mayra Prudencio Mendoza, Louisiana; and Angela Prudencio Mendoza, Monticello; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Berta L. Mendoza, Olivia Mendoza, Orbelina Mendoza, Vilma Mendoza and Candida Mendoza.
Casket Bearers were Mayra Mendoza, Plinio Claros, Manuel Mendoza, Wilmer Gomez, Rafael Rivera and Angela Prudencio.

Loucinda Erickson

Loucinda L. Erickson, 57, Monticello

Loucinda (Cindie) L. Erickson, 57, Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital of St. Cloud, Minn. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 5-8 p.m., at Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, 250 East Broadway, Monticello.
Loucinda was born on Oct. 23, 1955, in Coral Gables, Fla., to Don and Dorothy (Nagel) Modesitt. Her family relocated to Monticello, where she was a 1973 graduate of Monticello High School. She married Jeff Erickson on Dec. 30, 1977, and they had two sons, Joel and Kyle. Cindie worked for the City of Monticello Hi-Way Liquors for 17 years, and afterwards did part-time work for Pleasant Hills Saddle Shop in Rogers and Little Mountain Feed Store in Monticello. She spent most of her time with her family, and her beloved horses, dogs and cats.
Cindie will always be remembered as one of the most caring and selfless people one has ever met. She always had a smile on her face, and looked forward to helping any person (or animal) in need.
Loucinda is survived by her two sons, Joel (Lara) Erickson and Kyle (Angela) Erickson;  granddaughter Audrey Erickson;  mother Dorothy Modesitt;  brother Don (Amy) Modesitt;  sister Melinda (Dan) Rasmussen;  nieces Rae Lynn (Mike) Billbe, and Rene Modesitt;  nephews Zach and Billy Vickers.
She was preceded in death by her father Don Modesitt, and husband Jeff Erickson.

Gary L. Peterson, 57, Monticello

Gary Lee “Papa” Peterson, 57, Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at North Memorial Medical Center of Robbinsdale.
Visitation was Monday Oct. 21, 12 noon to 2 p.m., at Community United Methodist Church, 9225 Jason Avenue NE, Monticello. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. Rev. Rhodel Jacobson officiated. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery of Monticello.
Gary was born on Aug. 27, 1956, in Princeton, Minn., to Clarence C. and Dorothy (McKenney) Peterson. He worked most of his life as an automobile mechanic and truly loved his work. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and darts, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Cindy;  children, Sue (Kevin) Kolb, St. Bonifacius; Amy (Chad) Meidinger, Otsego; David (Brenna) Peterson, Sauk Rapids;  11 grandchildren;  and two brothers, Duane (Sheila) Peterson and Terry (Barb) Peterson.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents;  and brother Bobby Peterson.
Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
