Franklin E. Denn, Sr., 92, Monticello passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center of St. Cloud. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 7, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 E. Broadway, Monticello. There will be a prayer service at 5 p.m. with Pastor Mark Stahl, and a military service at 7 p.m.. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery of Little Falls Friday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Franklin was born on Dec. 22, 1920 in Monticello to Wilson and Cecillia (Hencel) Denn. He attended and graduated from Monticello High School in 1938. Franklin served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1947. He was united in marriage to Mabel Danner on Oct. 30, 1943, in St. Petersburg, Fla. He lived and farmed in Monticello Township his entire life. He was a member of the Wright County Planning Commission for many years. He also served as a director of the Minnesota Association of Townships. Franklin was a supervisor for Monticello Township for more than 41 years, and was currently still serving at the time of his death.
Franklin is survived by his three children Franklin, Jr. (Julie), Ronald (Lisa), and Rosalyn; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Cecillia; his wife Mabel in 2005; brothers Donald and Lowell; and sister Jeanette.
