Myrtle M. Kotzenmacher, 91, Monticello, formerly of Brooten, Minn. passed away at Centra Care Health of Monticello on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church, 1001 E. Seventh St,, Monticello. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Father Tony VanderLoop officiating. Interment will be St. Donatus Catholic Cemetery of Brooten. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Myrtle was born Oct, 2, 1922, in Epping, North Dakota, to John and Elizabeth (Marx) Hannegrefs. She moved to Olivia, Minn. at age 15. She worked as a waitress in Olivia and later moved to Spokane, Washington. She was united in marriage to John Kotzenmacher on Feb. 27, 1946. They farmed the family farm in the Willmar area until 1969, and then dairy farmed in Brooten until retiring in 1979. Myrtle continued to live in Brooten until 2003, when she moved to Monticello to be near her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents John and Elizabeth; an infant son; five brothers; and five sisters. Myrtle is survived by her sons Eugene (Lana) of Alexandria, Richard of Baxter, Paul of Cambridge, Daniel of Monticello; daughters Mary Ann (Tom) Schafer of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Rita (Lonny) Schoeppler of Spicer, Janet (Mike) Anderson of Spicer, Delores (Steve) Schmidt of Big Lake, Bernice (Todd) Allen of Ramsey; 28 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
