Sheriff’s office reports snowmobile fatality in Silver Creek Township

A Buffalo man died Saturday after sustaining injuries in a snowmobile crash that occurred in Silver Creek Township, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

According to a news release issued Monday morning, the sheriff’s office was notified of a snowmobile crash in the 9800 block of Endicott Ave. N.W. in Silver Creek Township shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday.

The initial law enforcement investigation indicates Craig Peitz, 51, Buffalo, was southbound on the trail which is parallel to Endicott in the west ditch, driving a 2013 SkiDoo Renegade 800 when he came over a hill, hit a snow crest and was thrown from the machine.

Peitz was taken to North Memorial Hospital via Air Care where he was later pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office reported.  Maple Lake Ambulance/Rescue and Allina Ambulance also responded to the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
