The start of the three-season Monticello Interstate 94 reconstruction project will be delayed until April 14 because of recently discovered frost conditions, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) reported Wednesday night.
“We performed some small excavations on the project today (Wednesday) that resulted in finding enough frost in the ground to delay the project until April 14,” said Kirk Allen, MnDOT District 3 project supervisor. “The department doesn’t want to inconvenience the public with lane closures if the work can’t be performed properly.”
Allen said the project’s eventual start date is also dependent on weather conditions being favorable to commence work. See this week’s Monticello Times for an updated story about the business community meeting with MnDOT and learning more about project.
