The Monticello Board of Education held their special school board meeting on Monday, March 17th, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in the middle school boardroom. Board Members: Jill Bartlett, Jeff Hegle, Jim Lindberg, Carol McNaughton, Robbie Smith, William Spartz and Superintendent Jim Johnson. Also present: District Administrators and community guests.

6. Resolution Regarding Donations to the District – Jim Johnson, Superintendent
1. Cargill donates $1,500.00 to the Monticello School District for the Backpack Program
2. CMERDC donates a copy machine to Monticello High School for developing a copy center worksite for students with special needs
3. Monticello Center Court Club donates $9,355.00 to Monticello Middle School for adjustable baskets in the Arena Gym.
4. Monticello Rotary donates $500.00 to Monticello Middle School for the He-Man Book Club.
5. Presbytery of MN Valleys donated $500 to West ABE Consortium to be used for reading materials at the Benton County Jail.
YTD Total Donations – $25,612.60

7. Request for a 6.75 Hour Per Day Paraprofessional for PWE – Joe Dockendorf, Assistant Superintendent reported to board members that a student with an IEP has moved into the district and requires paraprofessional time, therefore a request for a paraprofessional position is required.

8. Inclusive Education Program Plan – Linda Borgerding, Director of Curriculum and Instruction A State Statute requires each district to have an Inclusive Education Program plan. Superintendent Jim Johnson presented a request for approval of Monticello School District Inclusive Education Program Plan.

9. Proposed Plans for Upgrades to the Ice Arena Jim Johnson, Superintendent requested board approval for the upgrades to the Ice Arena. The cost of the project will be covered by the Monticello Youth Hockey Association.

10. Proposed Adjustment to the 2013-14 School Calendar With the number of contact days the district has lost due to inclement weather, Jim Johnson, Superintendent recommended an adjustment to the current years calendar and add April 21st as a regular school day.

12. Capital Budget Proposal for FY15 – Tina Burkholder, Business Manager presented a slightly changed but, final look at the capital budget. Estimated total budget costs $1,258,259.00.

13. Call for Bids for the Little Mountain Roof Project – Tina Burkholder, Business Manager requested board approval for the Little Mountain Roof project. A process that will require a sealed bid process and placing a formal notice in the newspaper for two weeks. Approved by: Jill Bartlett, Seconded by: William Spartz, Approved 6-0
