Bette was born on August 17, 1926, to Henry and Christina Wikel. She was raised in Buffalo and attended the Catholic schools there. She married Lloyd Grossnickle in 1951, moved to Monticello, and had six children. Bette always knew and loved her purpose in life, to raise her kids. Bette was known for her volunteer work throughout the community, which could cover this newspaper page. Most of all, Bette enjoyed her home being a gathering place for her friends, children, and grandchildren. She was a voracious reader and loved flowers, garage sales, playing cards, fruits, vegetables, and cooking for her family.
She is survived by her six children, Danny (Sandy) Grossnickle of Brooklyn Park, Laurie (Alejandro) Sanchez of Big Lake, Amy Grossnickle of Monticello, Susie (Alan) Wojchouski of Monticello, Muggy (Randy) Pierfelice of Champlin, and Tom (Lisa) Grossnickle of Monticello. She is also survived by four grandsons, Dylan (Melissa) Wojchouski, Devin Wojchouski, Connor Pierfelice and Christian Pierfelice; three great granddaughters, Nora, Zoey and Ella Wojchouski. Bette was preceded in death by the one true love of her life, her husband, Lloyd; brothers Henry and Ervin, sisters Ina and Clara; and too many dear friends to list.
