To celebrate the recent opening of a new store at 300 W. Seventh St., Runnings in Monticello is kicking off a seven-day grand opening celebration Monday, April 28, complete with prize giveaways, demonstrations, fun events and celebrity appearances.
The new 90,000 square foot store opened in early April in the former K-Mart building.
“Customer response to our new store has been overwhelmingly positive.” said Brandon Grover, store manager, in a news release issued Monday. “We’re happy to finally be open and ready to have some fun during our grand opening week. We have all kinds of fun things lined up and hope everyone will stop in for a visit.”
The grand opening runs from April 28 – May 4th and includes a number of events, including an appearance by former Minnesota Viking and three-time Super Bowl champion Roger Craig, Friday, May 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., hot dog and brat feed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, food sampling, vendor demonstrations, and an appearance by Laura Schara from TV’s Due North Outdoors, Friday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Timberwolves mascot “Crunch” will be in-store Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The first 50 customers in the door each morning will receive a free Runnings cap.
Runnings will also give away more than $45,000 in prizes including a 2014 Lund Fishing Boat, a five-day Big Elk Hunt to New Mexico, guided fishing weekend, $1,000 in gift cards, Cub Cadet riding lawn mower and much more.
The Monticello Runnings is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For a complete schedule of events, visit www.runnings.com.
