Recent rain creates I-94 reconstruction project delay

Original lanes of westbound Interstate 94 running through a 3-mile stretch of Monticello will continue to carry traffic until construction crews have a chance to repair damage caused by recent rains, the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported Tuesday morning.

“The project has received another setback due to the large amount of rain,” said Kirk Allen, MnDOT project supervisor. “The original westbound lanes will continue to carry traffic until we have a chance to make necessary repairs to the temporary westbound lanes,” Allen stated in an email. The westbound exit ramp at Highway 25 will continue to be open until later this week.
