Charles Stumpf

Charles Chuck Walter Stumpf, age 73, of Monticello passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
He was born on September 12, 1940 in Waverly, the son of Walter and Rosella (Eicher) Stumpf.
Chuck was raised on a farm in Waverly. Through his high school years he held many jobs. Charles attended St. Marys Catholic School in Waverly and graduated from Buffalo High school in 1958.
On June 20, 1959, Charles Stumpf and Gayle Ruff were joined in holy marriage. God blessed their marriage with three children.
After Chuck married Gayle he began working for his father-in-law Harold at Ruff Auto Parts in Monticello, picking up junk cars. Several years later they incorporated and Chuck became a partner. After Harold retired Chuck became president of Ruff Auto until a massive stroke forced him to retire in May of 1997.
He enjoyed drag racing his 1955 Chevy, fishing and hunting trips, trucking in his semi, trips to Tucson, Arizona, bingo, spending time with his grandkids and most of all working. Chuck never spent a moment idle.
Chuck was a former President of The Mens Club at St. Henrys Catholic Church in Monticello. He also served on the Monticello Fire Department and on The City of Monticellos Planning Commission. He did a lot of volunteering for The City of Monticello.
