Walter Mack

Walter Charles Mack, age 90 of Monticello, MN passed away on Friday June 13, 2014 at Centra Care Health of Monticello.
Visitation Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 12 noon to 1 PM at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church, 413 East 3rd Street, Monticello. A Memorial Service will follow at 1 PM with Rev. Darren Green officiating. There will be a private interment. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Walt was born on February 13, 1924 in Clark, South Dakota to Roy B. and Anna (Smith) Mack. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Lambert on January 14, 1944 in Raymond, S.D. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1941. Walt served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked on the Fort Randal Dam in Pickstown, S.D. and the Gavins Point Dam in Yankton, S.D. In 1962, the couple moved to Monticello, MN. Walt worked for the City of Monticello as the Water and Sewer Superintendent for over twenty years, until his retirement in 1988. In his retirement, Walt and his wife loved to travel around the U.S. and Canada with their travel trailer.
Walt is survived by his five sons, Darrell of Clark, S.D., Ronald (Mary) of Litchfield, MN, Roger (Cyndi) of Hackensack, MN, Terry (Connie) of Elk River, MN and Ralph (Beverly) of Monticello, MN; ten grandchildren; numerous great and great great-grandchildren; sister Ella Rivers of Elk River, MN; and good friend Florence Mayer of Monticello, MN.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn in 2004; his parents Roy and Anna Mack; brothers Ralph, Gene and James; and sister Verna Rivers.
