Monticello missing person search suspended Sunday afternoon, unidentified body discovered

The Wright County Sheriff’ Joe Hagerty reports that at approximately 2:30 p.m. this afternoon, the body of a deceased adult male was discovered in a marsh south of Interstate 94 near Dalton Avenue in Monticello.

The body was located by volunteers from United Legacy who were in the area searching for a missing person, Tyler Berg.

According to information released by the Wright County Sheriff’s office, the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy along with making positive identification.

John Mitchell, United Legacy vice president and incident commander, confirmed that search operations had been suspended shortly after 4:15 p.m. Sunday. The Monticello Times will continue to monitor this breaking news.
