Dawn Elizabeth (Fischer) Ellingson, age 51 of Big Lake, entered her Lord’s rest on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, 250 East Broadway, Monticello, MN. Pastor Wendy Cunningham will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Rice, MN. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Dawn was born January 24, 1966, in St. Cloud, MN, to Joseph and Elaine (Foehrenbacher) Fischer. She graduated from Holdingford High School in 1984. She was married to Scott Opatz, becoming a mother to three wonderful children. She then married Brent Ellingson and later divorced. The joy of Dawn’s life was having six beautiful granddaughters and spending as much time with them as she could.
Survivors include her significant other of 16 years, Tom Shufelt of Big Lake; children, Christopher Ellingson of Mountain Iron, Hannah Ellingson of Big Lake, and Nicholas Ellingson of Big Lake; granddaughters, Amber Ellingson, Lyndsey Shufelt, Natalie Brown, Averie Ellingson, Neveah Ruberg and Willow Ellingson; siblings Tom (Colleen) Fischer of Broken Arrow, OK, Pat (Gary) Soder of Sartell, Steve (Karen) Fischer of Rice, and Mary (Ron) Schroeder of St. Cloud.
She was preceded in death by her father (2011); her mother (2009); and her sister, Gerri Schultz (2007).
