Lt. Col. Mark Hoberg will be this year’s Monticello High School Veterans Day program keynote speaker. He joined the Navy in 1974 and then the National Guard after five years of active duty in the Navy. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2006, and in December of that year was injured during combat operations. He spent the next 18 months undergoing surgery and physical therapy for those injuries and is now retired from the military after 33 years of service.
