It wasn’t discussed for long, which is a rarity for the Wright County Board of Commissioners, but the county board made arguably the biggest decision of the year when it approved its 2015 draft budget and certified levy at its Sept. 30 meeting.
For the first time in years, both the budget and the levy took a significant increase.

Monticello Economic Development Authority (EDA) Commissioners recently considered action related to future redevelopment of Block 34. The downtown block contains properties scheduled for possible demolition, Community Development Director Angela Schumann wrote in a background report that was included in the EDA’s Oct. 8 agenda packet.

City leaders heard an interesting transportation tale before approving a multi-year contract with A+ Taxi of Monticello for public transit services Monday night. Lori Hauge, 1213 Hart Boulevard, addressed council members during citizen comments. She walked to the meeting from her home at Mississippi Shores. And a comment by Councilmember Glen Posusta made several of his fellow city council members turn their heads.
