The Wright County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday morning that two people were killed in a Sunday afternoon accident in the area of County Road 39 and 107th Street N.E. Capt. Todd Hoffman said a news release with details of the accident would be released later today. Fire Chief Steve Joerg reported that Monticello Fire Department crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after 4:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon and that the head-on collision involved a pickup truck pulling a horse trailer and a car. Joerg also confirmed two on-scene fatalities. The Monticello Times will update this breaking story when more information is released.

Motorists in Monticello will find quick access to westbound Interstate 94 beginning today (Thursday, July 17) as the ramp and all lanes from northbound Highway 25 to westbound I-94 are now open. The ramp and turn lane, which were closed May 29 while crews reconstructed the ramp and installed an improved signal system, were re-opened at 11:45 this morning, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) reported in a news release.
